There is an open fire in the lobby where you can relax, or perhaps a visit to the relax department and a hot sauna can tempt you after a long day out in the wilderness.
Longyearbyen’s most popular meeting place, the Barentz Pub, has an informal and up beat atmosphere where you can get light meals and a wide selection of drinks.
The world’s northernmost full service hotel
The hotel was completed in March 1995 after a wing from the former Tråseth Hotel (The Americans’ sponsor hotel during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics) was transported to Svalbard. The service section containing the restaurant and lobby was designed by the Polish architect Krystjan Dolatowski. His inspiration taken from Hiorthfjellet gave rise to the design of the high ceiling, giving the restaurant an almost sacral atmosphere with mountains greeting you as you walk into the room.
High standard and varied facilities
The hotel has 95 rooms whereof 42 standard rooms, 25 superior rooms, 28 apartments (four-bed rooms) and 1 suite. All rooms are well equipped with on-suite, TV, telephone and mini bar. Our superior rooms are located on the first floor, and they all have view towards the mountain Hiorthfjellet or Isfjorden.
The apartments have a small kitchenette, a bedroom with bunk beds, double sofa bed in the living room, bathroom with shower/WC, and also a TV and telephone. The apartments are located in an annex to the hotel, and the walking distance between the two buildings is appr. 30 meters.
