Spitsbergen Winter Safari

A four day adventure on a snowmobiles, through a magical landscape you will not find anywhere else. The winter sun sparkles in towering glaciers and on frozen sea. Make your way towards the white horizon - now you can truly say that you are free!

A full-blooded adventure

	After breakfast we pack and head west towards Barentsburg. After a night in Russian surrounds the journey continues towards the beautiful Fridtjov glacier and Van Mijenfjorden. The second and third nights of this winter experience are spent at Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge, a cosy and inviting cabin with quality facilities located in Brentskaret. The third day will be planned after consulting the weather and ice forecasts, with one possibility being to head north towards Pyramiden and the powerful Nordenskiöld glacier. Experienced tour leaders will transform your winter safari into something more than just a series of transport stages: the guides are well versed in local hunting history, fauna and geography and are well worth listening to when we stop to look at special sites. If the weather permits we will head to the East Coast and the kingdom of the polar bear on the last day, and see the spectacular Hayes Glacier where it lies frozen into the sea ice.

NB! All of our snowmobiles are environmentally friendly, producing as little noise pollution as possible and have low petrol consumption.

Double room/shared snowmobile	NOK 16 100 per person
Supplement for single snowmobile	NOK 5 200 per person

The prices include
Meals and accommodation during the trip, shared equipment, snowmobile with required equipment, snowmobile clothing, gas, and experienced guide with all necessary safety equipment, as well as search and rescue insurance.

The prices do not include
Airfare, accommodation and meals in Longyearbyen, beverages, personal travel insurance, clothing and equipment.

There is a lot of exciting excursions and activities you can join from Longyearbyen before or after the trip. You can book additional nights at one of our places of accommodation in connection with your expedition.

Equipment list Snowmobile Safari

Required equipment:

Bag or backpack for personal equipment
Driver’s licence for car or motorbike
Suitcase/bag which can be left in Longyearbyen with the clothes and other items you don’t need on the snowmobile safari
Warm hat/beanie
Scarf or buff
1-2 pair of gloves or mittens (we recommend wool)
2 sets of long underwear (long johns and sweater, we recommend wool e.g. Devold of Norway)
Thick warm woollen sweater or fleece jacket/sweater
2 pairs of thick woollen socks
1 pair of warm and windproof pair of pants
1-2 sets of casual indoor clothing to use at the hotel and the Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge
Indoor shoes for use at the hotel and the Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge
