This is your chance to experience an excavation site up close and learn more about the prehistoric reptiles that used to live here! In cooperation with the archeologists, Spitsbergen Travel offers an Isfjord Safari with a visit to the excavations.

We will pick you up at your accomodation and brief you before we head out in an open Polarcirkel boat to Deltaneset. From the shore we will have an easy 1 hour hike to the excavation site at 200 m.o.s.l. At the site we will be briefed by the archeologists about their work.

We will have a simple meal and a hot drink before returning to the boat and return back to Longyearbyen.

The boats are quite small and you may experience some bumpy sea and sea spray. The safari is not recommended for people with back problems or pregnant women.

The safari may be changed due to weather conditions. All participants are requested to dress warmly, wear hiking boots and a hat and mittens.

Pick-up at your accomodation (not including the camping site), transport with Polar circle boat to and from Deltaneset, floatation suit, expedition lunch, hot drink, guide with necessary safety equipment, insurance.
