Get a taste of the local and handmade chocolate from Fruene, and learn more about chocolate's history.
The history of chocolate began for over 4000 years ago, as a bitter healthy drink for different civilizations in southern America. It would take 3997 years before the tasty treat found its way to Svalbard.
Fruene AS started up the world's northernmost chocolate production in 2013, and since then, they have satisfied palates both locally and globally. All pieces are handmade with inspiration from the Arctic. They now want to invite you on a tour of their facility, and a time travel back to the beginning of chocolate. They will share with you myths and stories about chocolate and cocoa beans.
You will also get a glimpse into a chocolate makers day, and what inspired the pieces "Sukkertoppen", "Polar bear" and the local heart-shaped favorite "Nordlyskonfekten".
The lecture takes place in the production facilities and it is possible to eat a breakfast or a light dinner meal before or after the lecture.
